At Killymoon Castle in Cookstown, the owners wanted to enhance the entrance with a special feature. While Kinrush had previously supported the castle with maintenance, this time we were entrusted to design and build a brand-new garden from scratch to showcase their deer statues, creating a striking focal point that welcomes visitors.
The brief was clear: transform a simple patch of grass into a defined garden feature that highlights the statues, complements the castle’s historic character, and provides year-round beauty.

With no pre-set design, our planting specialist developed a plan that would elevate the sculptures while fitting naturally into the estate’s landscape. Using a mix of ornamental plants, natural stone, and mulched beds, we created a layered backdrop that draws attention to the deer while adding texture and colour. The new garden beds were fully prepared with machinery, ensuring proper foundations and longevity.
The transformation turned a solitary statue into a captivating garden landmark. The new layout frames the deer perfectly and enhances the castle’s entrance, giving visitors a memorable first impression. The client was delighted with how seamlessly the feature blended with the estate’s setting.
This project proves that even a single landscape element, when thoughtfully planned and executed, can redefine a space. At Kinrush, we take pride in delivering not just maintenance, but creative solutions that elevate heritage properties and modern homes alike.
